Mercurius solubilis (Hahnemann’s soluble mercury)

Key notes: Every organ, every tissue of the body is more or less affected; it changes healthy cells into decrepit, inflamed and necrotic wrecks, decomposes the blood, producing profound anaemia; the lymphatic system is especially affected, with all the membranes and glands; tremor everywhere; weak and weary; profuse, offensive sweat that does not relieve; sensitive to both heat and cold (“human thermometer”); breath and body smell foul; increased salivation; worse at night, warmth of bed.

Mind: Slow in answering questions; memory weak; loss of will-power; weary of life; mistrustful; thinks he is losing his reason; hurried and restless.

Materia medica indications — میٹیریا میڈیکا میں مذکور کیفیات

Head: Vertigo when lying on back; band-like feeling about head; one-sided tearing pains; tension about scalp as if bandaged; catarrhal headaches with much heat in head; scalp tense; oily sweat on head; exostoses with feeling of soreness.

سر: کمر کے بل لیٹنے پر چکر؛ سر کے گرد پٹی کا احساس؛ یک طرفہ چیرنے والے درد؛ سر کی جلد میں پٹی بندھی جیسا کھنچاؤ؛ سر میں زیادہ گرمی کے ساتھ نزلاتی سر درد؛ سر پر چکنا پسینہ؛ ہڈی کے ابھار دکھن کے ساتھ۔

Eyes: Lids red, thick, swollen; profuse, burning, acrid discharge; floating black spots; after exposure to glare of fire; iritis.

آنکھیں: پلکیں سرخ، موٹی، سوجی؛ زیادہ، جلن والی رطوبت؛ تیرتے سیاہ دھبے؛ آگ کی چکاچوند کے بعد؛ قزحیہ کی سوزش۔

Ears: Thick, yellow discharge; fetid and bloody; otitis with sticking pains; boils in external canal.

کان: گاڑھی زرد رطوبت؛ بدبودار اور خون آلود؛ چبھن کے ساتھ کان کی سوزش؛ بیرونی نالی میں پھنسیاں۔

Nose: Much sneezing; sneezing in sunshine; nostrils raw, ulcerated; yellow-green, fetid, pus-like discharge; coryza, acrid discharge, but too thick to run down the lip; pain and swelling of nasal bones; nosebleed at night.

ناک: بہت چھینکیں؛ دھوپ میں چھینکیں؛ نتھنے چھلے، زخمی؛ زرد سبز، بدبودار، پیپ جیسی رطوبت؛ جلن والا مگر اتنا گاڑھا زکام کہ ہونٹ تک نہ بہے؛ ناک کی ہڈیوں کا درد اور سوجن؛ رات کو نکسیر۔

Mouth: Sweetish metallic taste; salivation; gums spongy, recede, bleed easily; sore pain on touch and chewing; whole mouth moist; crown of teeth decay; teeth loose, feel tender and elongated; furrow on upper surface of tongue lengthwise; tongue heavy, thick, moist coating, yellow, flabby, teeth-indented; intense thirst although mouth is moist; breath offensive; abscess of roots of teeth.

منہ: میٹھا دھاتی ذائقہ؛ رال بہنا؛ مسوڑھے اسفنجی، پیچھے ہٹیں، آسانی سے خون؛ چھونے اور چبانے پر دکھن؛ پورا منہ نم؛ دانتوں کے تاج خراب؛ دانت ڈھیلے، حساس اور لمبے محسوس؛ زبان کی اوپری سطح پر لمبی دراڑ؛ زبان بھاری، موٹی، نم میل، زرد، ڈھیلی، دانتوں کے نشان؛ منہ نم ہونے کے باوجود شدید پیاس؛ بدبودار سانس؛ دانتوں کی جڑ کا پھوڑا۔

Throat: Bluish-red swelling; constant desire to swallow; putrid sore throat, worse right side; quinsy with difficult swallowing after pus has formed; burning in throat; ulceration of tonsils.

گلا: نیلگوں سرخ سوجن؛ مسلسل نگلنے کی خواہش؛ بدبودار گلے کی خراش، دائیں طرف زیادہ؛ پیپ بننے کے بعد نگلنے میں دشواری والا گلے کا پھوڑا؛ گلے میں جلن؛ ٹانسلز پر زخم۔

Stool: Greenish, bloody and slimy, worse at night, with pain and tenesmus; never-get-done sensation; dysentery-like stools with tenesmus not relieved by stool.

پاخانہ: سبزی مائل، خون آلود اور چکنا، رات کو بڑھے، درد اور زور کے ساتھ؛ کبھی فارغ نہ ہونے کا احساس؛ زور کے ساتھ پیچش جیسا پاخانہ جو فراغت سے کم نہ ہو۔

Respiratory: Soreness from fauces to sternum; cannot lie on right side; cough with yellow muco-purulent expectoration; paroxysms of two; cough worse at night and from warmth of bed.

نظامِ تنفس: حلق سے سینے کی ہڈی تک دکھن؛ دائیں طرف لیٹ نہ سکے؛ زرد بلغمی پیپ دار بلغم کے ساتھ کھانسی؛ دو دو کے دورے؛ رات اور بستر کی گرمی سے بڑھنے والی کھانسی۔

Skin: Almost constantly moist; persistent dryness of skin contra-indicates Mercurius; excessive odorous viscid perspiration, worse at night; general tendency to free perspiration, but patient is not relieved thereby; vesicular and pustular eruptions; ulcers irregular in shape, edges undefined; itching, worse warmth of bed; glands swollen, every cold causes swelling.

Modalities: Worse: at night, wet, damp weather, lying on right side, perspiring, warm room and warm bed.
