Chelidonium majus (Greater celandine)

Source: Greater celandine; family Papaveraceae. Plant kingdom.

ماخذ: بڑی سیلنڈین؛ خاندان پاپاویریسی۔ نباتاتی دوا۔

Key notes: A prominent liver remedy, covering many of the direct reflex symptoms of diseased conditions of that organ; the jaundiced skin, and especially the constant pain under the lower inner angle of right scapula, are certain indications; paralytic drowsiness; general lethargy and indisposition to make any effort; ailments brought on or renewed by change of weather; serous effusions; bilious complications during pregnancy.

Materia medica indications — میٹیریا میڈیکا میں مذکور کیفیات

Head: Icy coldness of occiput from nape of neck; feels heavy as lead; right-sided headache extending down behind ears and shoulder-blade; neuralgia over right eye, right cheek-bone and right ear, with excessive lachrymation, preceding an attack of bilious colic.

سر: گردن سے گدی کی برفانی ٹھنڈک؛ سیسے جیسا بھاری؛ دائیں طرف سر درد جو کانوں کے پیچھے اور کندھے کی ہڈی تک جائے؛ دائیں آنکھ، دائیں گال کی ہڈی اور دائیں کان کا اعصابی درد زیادہ آنسوؤں کے ساتھ، صفراوی مروڑ کے دورے سے پہلے۔

Eyes: Dirty-yellow colour of whites; orbital neuralgia of right eye, with profuse lachrymation; tears fly out of eyes.

Face: Yellow; worse forehead, nose, cheeks; whole right side of face, cheek-bone and ear affected.

Mouth: Tongue yellow, with imprint of teeth; large and flabby; bitter taste; offensive odour from mouth.

Stomach: Nausea, vomiting; better very hot water; pain through stomach to back and right shoulder-blade; gastralgia; eating relieves temporarily, especially when accompanied with hepatic symptoms.

Abdomen: Jaundice due to hepatic and gall-bladder obstruction; gall-colic; distension; fermentation and sluggish digestion; constriction across, as by a string; liver enlarged; gall-stones.

Urinary: Profuse, foaming, yellow urine, like beer; dark, turbid.

Respiratory: Spasmodic cough; loose, rattling cough; expectoration difficult; pain in right side of chest and shoulder, with embarrassed respiration; small lumps of mucus fly from mouth when coughing; hoarse in afternoon; oppression of chest.

نظامِ تنفس: تشنجی کھانسی؛ ڈھیلی کھڑکھڑاتی کھانسی؛ بلغم مشکل سے نکلے؛ سانس کی دشواری کے ساتھ سینے اور کندھے کی دائیں طرف درد؛ کھانسنے پر بلغم کے چھوٹے ٹکڑے منہ سے اڑیں؛ سہ پہر کو آواز بیٹھنا؛ سینے پر دباؤ۔

Extremities: Pain in arms, shoulders, hands, tips of fingers; icy coldness of tips of fingers; wrists painful; rheumatic pain in hips and thighs; intense pain in heels, as if pinched by too narrow a shoe; worse right; paralytic drowsiness.
