Causticum (Hahnemann’s tinctura acris sine kali)

Key notes: Manifests its action mainly in chronic rheumatic, arthritic and paralytic affections, indicated by tearing, drawing pains in muscular and fibrous tissues, with deformities about the joints; progressive loss of muscular strength; tendinous contractures; gradual paralysis of single parts (vocal cords, muscles of deglutition, tongue, eyelids, face, bladder, extremities); burning, rawness and soreness; restless at night; children slow in learning to walk; seen in broken-down seniors.

Mind: Child does not want to go to bed alone; least thing makes it cry; sad, hopeless; intensely sympathetic; ailments from long-lasting grief, sudden emotions; thinking of complaints aggravates (especially haemorrhoids); absent-minded; feels a sense of injustice.

Face: Paralysis of right side of face; warts on nose and face; pain in facial bones; pain in jaws with difficulty opening mouth.

چہرہ: چہرے کے دائیں طرف کا فالج؛ ناک اور چہرے پر مسے؛ چہرے کی ہڈیوں میں درد؛ جبڑوں کا درد اور منہ کھولنے میں دشواری۔

Eyes: Cataract with motor disturbances; inflammation around eyes; ptosis (drooping eyelid); visual disturbances.

Mouth: Bites inside of cheek from paralysis; paralysis of tongue with indistinct speech; rheumatism of articulation of lower jaw.

Larynx: Hoarseness with pain in chest; aphonia; larynx sore; dry, hollow cough with rawness; cough with pain in hip and leakage of urine; cannot cough deep enough to raise mucus; voice of singers fails.

Urinary: Involuntary urination when coughing or sneezing; expelled very slowly, sometimes retained; retention after surgical operations; loss of sensibility when passing urine; enuresis in first sleep at night.

پیشاب کے اعضاء: کھانسنے یا چھینکنے پر بے اختیار پیشاب؛ بہت آہستہ نکلنا، کبھی رک جانا؛ آپریشن کے بعد پیشاب کا رکنا؛ پیشاب کرتے وقت حس کا نہ ہونا؛ رات کی پہلی نیند میں بستر گیلا کرنا۔

Rectum: Stool tough and shining like grease; small stool, expelled better standing; piles impeding stool, worse walking and thinking of them; fistula and large piles.

مقعد و پاخانہ: سخت اور چکنائی جیسا چمکدار پاخانہ؛ چھوٹا پاخانہ، کھڑے ہو کر بہتر نکلے؛ پاخانے میں رکاوٹ ڈالنے والی بواسیر، چلنے اور سوچنے سے بڑھے؛ ناسور اور بڑی بواسیر۔

Extremities: Dull, tearing pains in hands and arms; heavy, weak; unsteady walking and easily falling; restless legs at night; contracted tendons; weak ankles; cracking and tension in knees; stiff hollow of knee.

اعضاء (ہاتھ پاؤں): ہاتھوں اور بازوؤں میں مدھم چیرنے والے درد؛ بھاری، کمزور؛ لڑکھڑاتی چال اور آسانی سے گرنا؛ رات کو بے چین ٹانگیں؛ سکڑے رباط؛ کمزور ٹخنے؛ گھٹنوں میں کڑکڑاہٹ اور کھنچاؤ؛ گھٹنے کے پچھلے حصے کا اکڑاؤ۔

Skin: Soreness in folds of skin, behind ears, between thighs; warts large, jagged, bleeding easily, on tips of fingers and nose; old burns that do not get well, and ill effects of burns.

Modalities: Worse: dry, cold winds, clear fine weather, cold air, motion of carriage. Better: damp, wet weather, warmth, heat of bed.
