Key notes: Most effective in children, especially light-haired, blue-eyed, fair-skinned and red-cheeked; acts especially on the respiratory organs, especially the upper trachea and larynx; glandular swellings, hard and indurated (thyroid, parotid, testes, submaxillary); much rattling of mucus in larynx; tendency to spasmodic and croupy cough; sensation of coldness in larynx; worse from heat yet chilly; sailors’ asthma, better at sea.

Materia medica indications — میٹیریا میڈیکا میں مذکور کیفیات

Head: Left-sided migraine, worse stooping, especially after drinking milk; sun headaches.

سر: بائیں طرف آدھے سر کا درد، جھکنے سے بڑھے، خصوصاً دودھ پینے کے بعد؛ دھوپ کا سر درد۔

Nose: Coryza, with sneezing; nostrils sore; stoppage of right nostril; fan-like motion of alae nasi; nosebleed relieves chest symptoms.

ناک: چھینکوں کے ساتھ زکام؛ نتھنے دکھتے؛ دائیں نتھنے کی بندش؛ نتھنوں کا پنکھے کی طرح ہلنا؛ نکسیر سے سینے کی علامات کم۔

Throat: Raw, evening hoarseness; tonsils deep red, with network of dilated blood vessels; swollen glands of neck, hard and indurated.

گلا: کچا، شام کو آواز بیٹھنا؛ ٹانسلز گہرے سرخ، پھیلی شریانوں کے جال کے ساتھ؛ گردن کے سوجے، سخت غدود۔

Respiratory: Croup, with rattling of mucus in larynx; hoarse, croupy cough; spasmodic closure of glottis; every inspiration provokes cough; dry cough with hoarseness; cold sensation when inhaling; chest pains run upward; difficult and painful breathing; asthma — better at sea.

نظامِ تنفس: حلق میں بلغم کی کھڑکھڑاہٹ کے ساتھ کروپ؛ بھاری، کروپ جیسی کھانسی؛ حلق کا تشنجی بند ہونا؛ ہر سانس سے کھانسی؛ آواز بیٹھنے کے ساتھ خشک کھانسی؛ سانس لیتے ٹھنڈک کا احساس؛ سینے کے درد اوپر کو؛ دشوار اور دردناک سانس؛ دمہ — سمندر میں بہتر۔

Glands: Stony-hard swellings, especially on lower jaw and throat; goitre; swelling of testes, hard, painful.

غدود: پتھر جیسی سخت سوجن، خصوصاً نچلے جبڑے اور گلے پر؛ گلہڑ؛ خصیوں کی سخت دردناک سوجن۔

Modalities: Worse: evening until midnight, and when sitting in a warm room, warm, damp weather, when at rest and lying on left side. Better: from any motion, exercise; at sea.

کمی بیشی: بڑھتی ہے: شام سے آدھی رات تک، گرم کمرے میں بیٹھنا، گرم نم موسم، آرام اور بائیں طرف لیٹنا۔ بہتر: کوئی بھی حرکت، ورزش؛ سمندر میں۔
